Build Your Own

Build Your Own

Almost Synchro are not looking to recruit at this time however starting your own synchro team is easy and we can’t wait to hear about yours! Below are our top tips on Building Your Own…….

“Just try it. Set up a group in your local lido or outdoor swimming space and see who turns up. Most outdoor swimming places have a Facebook group, It only takes one person to say ‘who fancies some synchro?!’ and the flood gates open! It is great for mental and physical health and you make fabulous friendships”

— Almost Synchro founder, Allison Johnston

Put a shout out. Start the conversation. Your local swim spots are a great place to start. Or social media. Or maybe just shout “who fancies some synchro?” from your doorstep…..

Get together, Have a coffee. Get to know each other, You might find someone did synchro as a child or has experience in choreography…. It’s really helpful to plan formations and talk about techniques on dry land before getting in the water.

Get in the water and have a go. The internet has loads of helpful tutorials but the two main skills you’ll need to learn to start off with are egg beater legs (essential to stay afloat!) and sculling (using your hands to steer your movements and to help keep you up in the water).

Get some groovy hats. Boom! You’re good to go.
